"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:24 ESV
This is repeated in three of the Gospels.
The eye of the needle was a place where merchants came in and out to trade but the animals needed to stay outside. It was a small entrance.
Yesterday won't fit into today's salvation. A rich person needs to leave that richness at the door. Jesus inhabits today and tomorrow. He is the alpha and omega of right now.
The throne of grace is a couple of steps past what is natural. While His disciples were sleeping Jesus took those extra steps into the garden of Gethsemane. He left His camels outside and prayed. He could have called down a company of angels while He was on that cross but He didn't. We also have that privilege if our spirit is alive and the word has divided soul from spirit. We can be unselfconsciously poor and meet with God on His good terms at His gracious throne.
