Jesus Knows What He Is Doing

"Jesus said to him, 'Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.' " Matthew 26:34 ESV

This passage came up tonight in a conversation about hope. A good working definition of hope is, 'The assurance that someone (a parent, a deity, a person, a government, etc...) knows what they are doing.'

This passage in Matthew shows Jesus as a person who knows what He Is doing. Peter's future failure is known and already accounted for. His denials are not going to change anything. Jesus is loving him already knowing what is going to happen. The cross will deal with those denials. Christ's blood is going to blot out that writing.

Peter gets angry but Christ already knows who Peter is going to become because He Is going to finish the work He started when Peter chose to believe.

Hope. We can have it. God knows what He Is doing. He knows what Christ has done. He knew before the world began.
