Acquainted with the Sacred Writings

This is very precious to me today...

"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:14-17 ESV

I've been looking at each word and nuance in the Greek.

There is so much here but a few things stand out.

One was that Paul said Timothy's exposure to the Bible and it's precepts made Timothy 'wise for salvation'. In other words, Timothy knew that people needed salvation and the way to get salvation. That wisdom oriented Timothy towards Jesus Christ.

Secondly, the word translated 'training' is paideia (Strong's G3809) and it refers to rearing a child and showing them techniques which includes correcting them if they are doing something incorrectly or inefficiently.

God breathed out words so we could be fully equipped.
