Now Is Right

A missionary Pastor in our ministry spoke last night. His name is Pastor Pradeep and he said a small statement that really struck me after quoting a few verses.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16 KJV

"Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." - 2 Timothy 4:2 KJV

He said, 'Preaching isn't seasonal for a preacher.'

Oh, How true and convicting that is. Eternal things aren't seasonal. Seasons were created (Yes, created) among other things to make boundaries for natural processes but God's things don't need seasons.

Love isn't seasonal. Neither is mercy. Winning souls is not seasonal.

After a long winter people claim the spring and summer as their own. I want to make sure to plan around the eternal and not have it be an afterthought. What is eternal is not seasonal.

Maybe God has a number of 'fair weather' friends because the Gospel is only sown seasonally in people's hearts.

I plan to enjoy the spring. I also plan to do the things that should never be left undone. Not with religious zeal but in grace giving grace and using the seasonal activities as tools to see these things happen where possible.

That isn't my first thought. It is a conscious choice I have made because God's gift is an amazing one. He gave His Son. There was no right season for that. Jesus didn't say, 'Now is a good season to love people. The weather is just right so I will go to the cross.'

It is never a good time to go to the cross naturally. The right season is right now where eternal things are concerned.
