"As we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18 ESV
At the heart of the spiritual person is someone who sees the unseen. It is detective work of a kind but not one that uses the intellect in a deductive way to piece together clues. It doesn't match the obvious to the obscure a make startling correlations. No. This is a different kind of detective work.
"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter." Proverbs 25:2 KJV
"For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV
Is it blind faith? Is it deaf faith? Yes, It hears only it's masters voice. It seeks only the eternal. The lamb nature response only to the master's voice and looks for a 'city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God' (see Heb 11:10)
The Love that our heart needs can only be found in the eternal.
"There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.' But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.' " - Luke 16:19-26 ESV
I like the phrase in the KJV... 'a great gulf fixed' one man saw the invisible and the other didn't. One man had a name on a spiritual level and the other didn't.
Only the craziest of the crazy and the sanest of the sane see the invisible.
Faith sees a Love by the light of grace. God illuminates the invisible by His presence.
If we walk out the door looking for what can't be seen we will see all that we need to see this day. What should stay hidden will stay hidden... the seen will have purpose and right perspective. We will walk in the light as ones led be the Spirit of Grace.
God will use the Bible as His voice if we have ears to hear. It is not an angry voice or a judgmental one... the seeker of the invisible finds divine appointments filled with grace, mercy and truth.
