"Then Pilate said to him, 'Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?' But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed." Matt 27:14 ESV
What a beautiful picture of regal confidence. Jesus so trusted His Father's will and plan that no false witness could turn Him toward self justification in a secular court room.
Then in the religious realm He answered this way:
"And the high priest stood up and said, 'Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?' But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him, "I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.'
Jesus said to him, 'You have said so. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.'
Then the high priest tore his robes and said, 'He has uttered blasphemy. What further witnesses do we need? You have now heard his blasphemy.' " Matt 26:62-65 ESV
He answered with His position and with prophecy.
"But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, 'Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.' " 1 Cor 1:27-31 ESV
'In Christ' we have accountability... 'In Christ' we can boast of our position... 'In Christ' we can bear accusation in regal humility and not reaction.
"The anvil breaks a host of hammers by quietly bearing their blows." Charles H Spurgeon
God is our strong tower. In times of peace and times of war we can run into Him and He will be our stability and safety.
