Black Sheep and/or Prodigal

Thinking today a lot about the 'black sheep of the family' and the prodigal son. The prodigal leaves their roots. The black sheep is rejected for some reason... usually linked to pre-existing dysfunction in the core family unit.

It is possible for one person to be both. The leaver who is also rejected.

Perhaps that has been us... we have been rejected... life is full of leaving and sometimes returning.

I want to be like the 'Father' in the prodigal story. God is like that Father. He isn't rejecting either son. He is planning for the child's return not blocking the way. He runs to greet the returning one.
