Finding Our Purpose

"When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.' " - John 20:20-21 ESV

I marvel at this 'sending'. Just think of how the Father sent the Son in the incarnation. Jesus was a sent one when He stayed in the temple even though His family had gone home. He was a sent One when He insisted that John baptize Him in the river. He was sent to the disciples that would later become Apostles. He was sent to the cross.

Why are you here on Earth? The secret is revealed in the sending. You have been sent.

The disciples were glad when they saw Jesus weren't they? They saw a wounded resurrected man that was more alive than anyone they had known and they were glad.

Our call is the only way we can make sense out of our life.

"So Joseph said to his brothers, 'Come near to me, please.' And they came near. And he said, 'I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.' " - Genesis 45:4-5 ESV

"But Joseph said to them, 'Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.' " - Genesis 50:19-20 ESV

It might look like you were 'sold' into your situation but you will find meaning when you find the 'sending' in it.

Every soul on the planet starts out with unanswered questions about their existence. The 'sending' is the only place they will find the answers they seek. The 'seeker' looks for something out there in front on them. The sent one feels the support of One who has sent them. God is both behind and in front of the sent one. He Is on the right and on the left.

Thank you God for filling the void in our life. In you we find purpose. We love and hop over the wall to help those who are hurting. We think this way because of the One who sent us. Thank You Jesus.
