Carved Work Overlaid with Gold

"So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold" 1 Kings 6:21

The floors of the most Holy place also had gold overlay, the doors, the walls were carved with cherubims and palm trees and open flowers and all were 'overlaid with gold' both within and without.

Carved wood overlaid with gold. How much gold was used? It must have been incredible amounts. Obviously no expense was spared. It is hard to imagine the sight.

"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?" 1 Cor 6:19

What does God see when He looks into the Holy place of a believer? A temple not built by human hands or effort. Paul had to remind them of this unseen reality. Unseen by us anyways... The wood of our humanity covered and intertwined with the gold of Christ's character and nature.

People have great worth. Maybe it's easy to miss that fact. Every human soul has such worth to to God.

God has carved 'palm trees and open flowers' in the inner courts of my humanity. Happy scenes of prosperous times overlaid with God Himself.

Filled with that meditation I want to see the worth people have to God and the hope for the future I have in God. His plans are good plans and His thoughts are good thoughts.
