Who Can Open The Scroll?

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.' " - Genesis 1:27-28 ESV

"Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, 'Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?' And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, 'Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.' " - Revelation 5:1-5 ESV

"Beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King." - Psalm 48:2 ESV

Beautiful in situation... God's throne is situated in a beautiful place.

Man was given dominion but submitted himself under the authority of the serpent. Jesus came as a man and paid for that transgression. He has the right to take back the title deed of the Earth. He has the right elevation in every situation.

"So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." - Philippians 2:1-4 ESV

Is there any consolation? Is there participation? In Christ there is. He has the authority in this situation and every other situation.

Many men died at the hands of Goliath... but not David. David was not a better man. David had a better God. His God held the title deed. His God had the power to break seals and loosen bondage. His God was situated in a high beautiful place. Other men shook in their boots but not David.

Adam was given dominion and lost it but Jesus took it back.

"When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe; but when one stronger than he attacks him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted and divides his spoil. Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters." - Luke 11:21-23 ESV

Jesus is the stronger man who can enter and take what no one else would have the power to take. With all this power at His disposal He will not break down our door. He loves and honors our right to choose.

Will we invite Him in and take comfort in Him? Is there participation with what is real or will we just submit our minds to more thinking that directs us to eat what we shouldn't have eaten in the first place?

God owns this day. It isn't only because He is creator. He owns it as redeemer. Jesus walked as an ambassador of that redemption in the world. Now we have that privilege.

"Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you..." - Joshua 1:3a ESV
