Think On These Things

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things." - Philippians 4:8 KJV

How needed this is when it seems like we see so much of this in the world...

"He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change the times and the law..." - Daniel 7:25a ESV

This is one of the potions in the Hebrew scriptures that isn't written in Hebrew. Many of the words used can only be found in Ezra and Daniel.

'... times and the law...' is interesting because 'law' here is not one of the Hebrew words for law. It means 'a decree for or against a person'. It basicly means that the people who have favor one day are reviled and the ones who don't are suddenly applauded.

We need this...

"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me - practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you." - Philippians 4:7-9 ESV

Wrongs need to be made right but rebellion is never the answer. If we live on the eternal foundation we will have peace not bloodshed.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28 KJV
