Take a Flask of Oil

"To the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ" Ephesians 1:6-9 ESV

"I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places" Ephesians 1:16-20 ESV

Wow. What have we gotten ourselves into?

Or better yet what has God gotten us into?

God wants to lavish love on us. He has already set up a 'trust fund' for us as children when we believed in Christ. Now He wants to open our eyes to the richness or the hope, the consequence of His exercised power and the scope of His Love as it is displayed in Christ.

"Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. ... But the wise answered, saying, 'Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.' And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut." Matthew 25:1-4, 9-10 ESV

In application... let's take wisdom and richness with us today so that in the circumstances of the day we will have what we need to have a path that is lit by God's light. Let's seek Him early... we won't regret that we did.

In the crisis or the triumph we can have the wisdom of an inheritance and the richness of a lavished love if we take the flask of oil with us on our journey.
