Raised In The Last Day

"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.[G2078]" - Revelation 22:13 KJV

This morning i am at John chapter six in my reading.

"And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last[G2078] day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last[G2078] day... No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last[G2078] day." - John 6:39-40, 44 KJV

That word 'last' is an interesting word in the Greek. It can also be translated 'lowest'. Jesus is the 'highest' and the 'lowest'.

Jesus will raise those who are his on the 'last day' and we can and should see that as in the future but it can also be seen as our 'lowest' day or our 'least favorite' day.

Jesus is the first and the last. He lived and lives in full identification with man. In a way, the cross was the 'last day' in that it was the worst day in human history and in Jesus' personal history. Jesus became first after He was last.

"For to which of the angels did God ever say, 'You are my Son, today I have begotten you?'..." - Hebrews 1:5a ESV

Jesus had a rebirth in His resurrection and ascension. He was raised to the highest position. His name Is above every name because of the life He lived and the death He died.

"I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all." - Ephesians 1:16-23 ESV

Yes. He Is first because He was last. He will outlive all those who hate Him. He died once and will never die again.

"The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms..." - Deuteronomy 33:27a ESV

Underneath the bottom are His everlasting arms.

Monday may be your 'last' (least favorite) day but God will raise you up in it. I pray your eyes will be opened in 'the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him' because you and i are called to live as believers. Our last day is not discouraging. God Is waiting to be gracious there.
