Common Ground

My thought today was about common ground... how important it is. This is a good verse.

"Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common." Acts 4:32 NKJV

The first part is beautiful. It talks about a unity that is only found in love. The last part shows a one of there reasons there is no division. Common ground.

'All things in common' is composed of two Greek words Hapas (Strong's G537) which talks about wholeness where there is no exclusion and Koinos (G2839) a word that denote the ordinary nature of something. It is some thing that was not sanctified for holy use.

How many of us have realized that a relationship with a person was really based on some key issue, thing or association only to have that thing taken away. A thing we had both made 'holy' in the wrong way. When that thing changed or disappeared so did the relationship.

The Acts 4 church saw things as common and people as holy. They had no division. Now, The things those people owned, the places they sent their children to go to school and all the other trappings are gone. They are all still together today in Heaven.

Grace makes common people holy and holy things common. Everyone can meet there on that common ground. Not everyone will... but everyone can.

Things will get shaken up. Some time and some day there will be shake ups. We are often surprised at what remains. I know I am.

I want God to help me properly categorize what is holy and what is not. It is the only way to be a true friend that I can see.
